I (20F) have recently got back into cricket after not playing since I was a kid and really enjoy it. I am part of a women’s club that only trains for an hour once a week and most weeks it’s cancelled because of the weather (I live in the UK) My whole life I have been very introverted and only recently after working at a summer camp in the US have I become more confident. I want to keep up the momentum and carry on trying to develop my social skills and confidence but it can be difficult living in a small town, only going to college once a week (12 hours of lessons, no time to join clubs) and working a job that requires me to be on my own. I don’t drive yet either.

Would it be seen as weird or strange if I set up a game of cricket in the park with a friend or family member, start playing and ask random people close by at the park (in particular teens/young adults) if they would like to join in ( if they would like to obviously!) in a friendly way

I personally think this is a positive thing as I want to bring a sense of connection within the community especially as loneliness among young people is at an all time high, however my dad is completely against it and thinks I’m crazy (but that may just be British awkwardness mentality! ) what do you think?
