What’s the best parenting trick you learned from your own mum?

  1. Honestly, how to NOT be a mum. I looked at her and went…. Well… not that.

The root of all her errors was literally the BS idea that you had to give up your sense of self an identity to be a mum and have a male partner.

I think it messed her up bad.

So for my kids we all matter! We are all equal, there’s no age based structure or sacrifices only compromise, team work and house democracy.

    Everyone is happy.

  2. My mom did a lot of things wrong but the one thing she always was was consistent. No meant no.

  3. If I ever sound like my mother, I know a messed up and need to do better. That’s the trick.

  4. When two kids are fighting, make them explain the other’s position. When my brother and I would fight, my mom would say, “What would your brother say happened?”

Taught me empathy and communication and the importance of recognizing other perspectives.

  5. Don’t worship your kids. Prioritise raising kids who knows what the word no means. Your kids won’t be arrogant prats and will be welcomed into the world.
