Not any one specific halftime show, obviously you may not like every artist, but the halftime show as a concept. I’m not a big sports fan, but a few football (soccer ⚽️) matches that I have been to I think I would have been annoyed if there was a big musical extravaganza part way through.

  1. I can’t speak for others, but I can’t stand the halftime show. Pointless

  2. English isn’t my parents’ first language and they don’t listen to American musicians at all so they only watch the SB for the actual sport lmao

  3. It varies by year, but I’d guess about 1/2 the people that watch the superbowl don’t like the halftime show.

There are also a lot of people that watch the superbowl even though they don’t like it for various reasons.

  4. Though I usually don’t care for it due to a given artist, I do like the concept. Gives those at the SB party a reason to come out. Always more fun if more people are there

  5. Plenty of people just don’t give a rip about the halftime show. I’ll watch it disinterestedly but I could do without it.

  6. Most football fans hate the halftime show. The halftime show is for people like me who get dragged to Superbowl parties so I don’t spend the entire day bored to tears.

  7. Yes. I watch for the game, I care nothing for the halftime show, and very little for the commercials.

If one of these dickwaving billionaires really wants to impress me, they’d buy up both all the ad-space, and not allow a single commercial, just a few short breaks with some generic music playing, and then nothing but analysis & highlights for a halftime show.

  8. Eh, well, it’s not like the Superbowl is just some random soccer match. It’s the championship.

  9. i liked black eyed peas. But also Wisconsin was doing well so I was already excited.

  10. Well, yeah. There are a lot of people who watch football all season and care who will be the champion. I watch the Super Bowl to see football, not halftime, not commercials, and not party goers.

  11. It would be a lot cooler if they tried something new rather than the same types of top 40 musicians all the goddamn time. It’s so dreadfully boring and predictable.

Doesn’t even have to be music, we can go back to using the Three stooges, not the actual Three stooges of course, but just something different besides music maybe?

  12. My husband loves American football and loathes the halftime shows at the Super Bowl. It makes zero sense, none of it is related to the sport.

  13. The halftime show is for the non-sports fans and the bored wives and girlfriends at the party.

I don’t *totally* hate it since I use it as an excuse to go have a smoke or something.

  14. I like seeing how the quickly construct so much staging and get all the lights and dancers ready in such a quick time. That’s impressive. Also it’s just a once a year event so if it was every single game it would get annoying but one game I can handle.

  15. I’ve never watched the halftime show. I kind of assumed it’s mostly for people who didn’t actually want to be watching the game lol

  16. I like the halftime show.

I like the football part too, but it’s fun to watch the show and critique it with my friends when it’s bad, and I just straight up enjoy it when it’s good.

  17. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t care about the halftime show. I’m more interested in the game. I use the halftime show to refill my refreshments and do any other thing I have that needs attention.

  18. It’s less than 20 minutes, you can prepare some more snacks for the second half and use the bathroom if you care that much about not seeing popular musical artists during halftime. Halftime bands have been part of American football for over a century. I do think the fireworks and full choirs and hordes of backup dancers at a modern Super Bowl can be a bit extra.

  19. The half time show has turned into an overproduced Las Vegas style extravaganza. I hate it.

  20. I’m a huge football fan and “meh” about the halftime show. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s boring. This past year’s was fairly decent. Shakira is hot as hell so last year’s was solid, lol.

  21. I have never seen a half time show I liked. If they went away I would not care.

  22. I absolutely hate the halftime show, even when it’s someone I like. Just quit it, take a normal break and go on with the game.

  23. Yes!

I’d prefer it if they ditched the big names and have the FAMU or USC marching band.

  24. My family has been muting the half time show the last few years. It just isn’t that interesting.

  25. It used to be much more common for people to dislike the halftime show. Until the early 90s, the halftime shows were usually quasi-cheesy and amateurish acts like marching bands. This continued to be the case even as the Super Bowl evolved into the biggest sporting event of the year and a de facto national holiday.

Eventually the NFL changed course and started hiring high-profile pop music acts for the show, because other networks would run counter-programming during halftime and the NFL was losing ratings. They decided to start with Michael Jackson and they’ve selected major pop acts ever since .

  26. Yeah, I watch the Superbowl for the game.

I’ll mute commercials and wander off during half time.

  27. I LOVED the most recent halftime show, but I’m also a fan of Kendrick, Dre, and the rest. Most of the time I use it as a bathroom and/or food break.

  28. I haven’t watched the halftime show in several years. None of the recent acts are the kinda music I enjoy, so I just consider it an intermission.

  29. This year has been the 1st time in years I actually enjoyed the show. Idk how gooddell fucked up the Atlanta Super Bowl so bad. Coulda had an all time great and decided that maroon 5 was a solid choice. Even they (admittedly probably to save face) was all time stupid

  30. I think most people like the half time show because it gives all the football party goers time to go to the bathroom, the liquor store, catch up with friends, etc. I don’t know many people that really want to watch it.

As a concept I kind of like it, even though I don’t watch it. It’s not just Big Sports Day. It’s Big TV Day. Big Commercial Day. Why not Big Musical Perfomance Day too? Seems fine.
