Probably bad mom award right here but once my husband and I spent forever putting together a bike for my son. We were getting increasingly frustrated at one another and by the time we were finished we were on edge. My son refused to even try it out, he sat on it and said it hurt his butt (he wasn’t sitting right on it). I ended up getting so annoyed I said something like, “God, any other kid would be so excited, you are so spoiled! Why can’t I have a son that is happy to have this.” He got immediately upset and it took a lot of repairing for him to feel better. I felt like the shittiest mom ever. He would bring it up randomly for the next year (probably to guilt me lmao) and so I went through a year of feeling shitty 😂
My son is super loved and taken care of. I think if you have a strong bond to begin with and are willing to admit your mistakes and do whatever you can to repair the relationship, these things can be healed.
