What do you guys think is the best fast food restaurant to stop at on the road?

  1. Wawa.

Sheetz has good drinks and a wayy better snack selection though even if their food is inferior.

  2. In the USA, it’s not fast food but Cracker Barrel! They are everywhere when you are on the road doing road trips!!!

  3. Whatever I can’t get at home. So when I’m driving to Texas, it’s whataburger and Jack in the box. Total shit food, but I love it.

Can’t get proper hasbrowns in Pennsylvania, so Dennys and Waffle House are usually the breakfast stops.

  4. I’m actually a fan of Taco Bell. Many folks claim that it gives them digestive issues but <knock wood> that doesn’t happen to me.

  5. We don’t have too many Chick Fil As up in New Hampshire so it’s always a treat to stop by one traveling elsewhere. Otherwise I also like Dunks and stopping by local grocery stores to get a sandwich is always another favorite option.

  6. if I’m traveling in state, I’m going to a Kwik Trip. they’re everywhere and consistently have clean bathrooms, decent coffee, and a lot of food options. the breakfast sandwiches are nice if you’re on the road early.

  7. Wendy’s has the best national quality. But I’d prefer to find a regional place like Culver’s or Cookout.

  8. I haven’t driven further than a mealtime in a while, but BK or Wendy’s is fine. Usually I just get snacks at a rest stop if anything.

  9. Was driving through the panhandle of Florida a few weeks ago and stopped at Whataburger and it’s definitely on my list of places to stop. Of course I have none anywhere near me.

Buc-ees is usually where we stop depending on which way we are going.

  10. Culver’s, if they’re in the neck of the woods you happen to be passing through.

  11. Honestly it’s so hard to say because quality of an order can vary so much store to store. Fast food is always a gamble.

  12. If you come across one, you gotta try Burgerville. They’re on the expensive side for fast food but the food they make is delicious.

  13. Asked my husband, who was a long haul trucker for four years. He said Subway, because it tastes the same no matter what state you’re in, and the quality is fairly equal as well.

  14. I really like Panera, but it’s been oddly hit or miss lately—I’ve stopped at a couple Paneras recently that have been out of 1/2 the menu, or they’ve forgotten sides, etc.

Also, Chipotle is always a welcome stop on the road!

  15. I usually default to a taco/Mexican place. Taco Bell is the most common obviously but there are lots of regional chains that are pretty good, like Taco Cabana, Taco Bueno, Taco Mayo, and Taco Casa.

Generally, it is a good idea to avoid eating at a combination fast food/gas station if possible. There are exceptions I am sure generally the food at those places is gross. Usually it is worthwhile to get off the highway and drive into town somewhere to find a better restaurant.

  16. Easily Culver’s, great butterburgers, fries are top tier too, but most people get the cheese curds. They recently got a spicy chicken sandwich too that is super good.

  17. McDonald’s for me, on a long trip I like to have something I can eat easily with one hand, and nothing beats chicken nuggets for that

  18. Arby’s is my favorite of the chains that are everywhere. Hard to beat their roast beef with extra horseradish.

  19. Jimmy John’s. I feel like an Unwich is a healthy option for road trips that are otherwise carb heavy.

  20. I really dislike McDonald’s for food, but I end up stopping there on road trips more often than not for a few reasons:

    1. They’re everywhere. I may prefer Wendy’s, but I’m not going to find a Wendy’s in 10 consecutive truck stops like I do with McDonald’s
    1. McDonald’s bathrooms are consistently cleaner than any other fast food place. I don’t know why this is, but it’s generally true.
    1. You can be relatively certain of the pricing. If you’re not ordering one of the value items from Wendy’s, I’ve found the pricing can range pretty drastically. Especially when they’re the only stop for a while.
    1. The food isn’t the best, but you can generally be confident in the minimum level of quality you’ll get there, and it’s good enough to keep me going for the next 5-6 hours on the road.

tl;dr: I usually go 5 years between visits to McDonald’s near home, but when I’m on the road, they’re a no-brainer choice for a stop.

  21. If push comes to shove, I’ll hit Wendy’s. Their food seems consistently fresh and more wholesome than most.

We had a Boston Market locally, but they’ve receded out of our area. They were more like real food.

Chipotle took their place, but we haven’t had good results with them.

I used to like Taco Bell as long as I ordered limited items and specified the “steak” option.

    Not jazzed about most others.

  22. Where the fuck are the Californians in this thread? In n Out, obviously.
