I need a new grill brush. It doesn’t have to be cheap, but it needs to be good.

What do you all use?

  1. I just blast the burners with the lid closed for a few minutes before using it.

  2. Never use a brush, I burn the grate off and when there is significant build up, wash it with soap and water. My grill is 8 years old and looks brand new, a brush scratches the coating eventually damaging the coating to the point when rust begins

  3. I found out that sometimes pieces of metal from the brush can get into your food which could get eaten.

What I do is use an onion, cut it in half and heat up the grill. I ‘butter’ the grates with the onion before grilling. I ‘butter’ the grates after grilling. That will clean the grates and is not toxic or harmful rather than using a brush or chemicals.

Someone said that they use an onion or lemon depending on what the grates are made of.

  4. don’t use a brush. use an onion, and you can just burn most stuff off. just leave the grill burning for 5-10 minutes after you’re done cooking on it.

  5. The Grill Rescue scrubber. It’s a foam pad wrapped in nomex. You soak it water before use, get the grill really hot, and the water converts to steam, to clean the surface.

It was given to me as a gift. It works well, but doesn’t seem to hold up quite like I would’ve expected. The pads are easily replaceable though.
