I’m interested in both blow drying and air drying, and any types of hair!

  1. I have hair that is somewhere between wavy and straight that comes down to between my shoulderblades. If I let it air dry it’ll take about four hours to dry completely. I typically let it air dry for 45 minutes to an hour, and then use a blowdryer to dry the roots. That takes about two minutes, and then I use a hot air brush to dry the rest in another five to ten minutes.

  2. my hair is shiney and gets oily easily. it reaches down to my butt. i have to ring the water out mutiple times, usually do this within the first 5 minutes out of the shower.

then i wrap it in a towel for 20 minutes while i bruh my teeth, put in my contacts and do my facial care routine. it will still be fairly wet but not dripping wet.

i try to brush it with my wet brush while it’s still fairly wet and then might wrap it in a towel again but my ends will never dry if i keep it wrapped up. the top of my hair did fast.

i don’t like to blow dry it but it takes at least an hr for it to dry. even with blow drying i can’t get it fully dry without frying my hair.

  3. I have a lot of hair, it’s not thick or thin. Just a lot of it lol it’s also naturally wavy, like 2b wavy. When I had it long around middle back it would take hours to air dry, and I never blow dried it to the point where it was completely dry because it would take too long and didn’t want to damage it. Now I have an undercut with the top left long enough to reach the bottom of my ears. Now it takes like 3-5 minutes to dry completely with blow dryer. I haven’t had this cut long enough that I’ve mindfully timed how long it takes to air dry yet.

  4. I have very fine hair but I have a lot of it. It’s very long. Goes down to my butt and I’m on the tall side.

Air drying takes about 35 minutes in California and about 3 hours in Washington.

Blow drying takes 5-10 minutes but I haven’t done that in ages.

  5. I have a thick head of that baby fine hair so it can frizz up easily, but luckily humidity in Louisiana tames that for me. It’s wavy straight. Has some definition. I’m 5’9” and my hair ends right at my hips/butt crack so I’d guess around 34ish inches. I usually wrap it up for 20-30 minutes after I wash then blow dry for another 20-30. I haven’t had it air dry in so long I couldn’t even tell you how long it would take. If I had to guess, 4-5 hours?

Just like skincare, I go to great lengths to keep my hair healthy. I use hair la vie which can be a bit pricey but it works for me. Highly recommend it if you can’t find a good natural shampoo and conditioner

  6. My hair reaches the half of my back (idk how else to explain it) and, for some reason, is a bit wavy at the tips and bangs. It’s dyed, but still very soft and I let it dry while I sleep lol. I think it takes around 4 hours to fully dry.

  7. I have straight to very slightly wavy hair and have a lot of it. Hairdressers are always surprised by it since they don’t expect it in non-curly hair. So it takes quite a long time to dry. If I can I’ll let it airdry but especially in the colder months that’s often just not an option or I”ll end up walking around with wet hair for more than half the day.

  8. Long curly (3a) and it takes forever to air dry, well, more like a few hours. But even when I think it’s dry I’ll go to touch it and still find some damp spots. I use a diffuser most of the time to speed up the drying process.

  9. Short and straight and takes about an hour to dry. I don’t even own a hair dryer. I call it my ‘wash-and-go hair’. It used to be a lot thicker (and longer), but as I age, it gets less and less. Fortunately, I started with so much hair that it still looks pretty good, even thin.

  10. My hair has recently decided it is curly/wavy. It’s thinned a bit and the gray parts are wiry. I don’t have a diffuser, so when I use a blow dryer, the curl disappears. It takes a long time to air dry, a couple hours at least, and I can blow dry it mostly dry in 20 minutes or so.

  11. 3b (I know, I know, boo to the texture system 😂), and it’s VERY low porosity, so starts drying in seconds. It’s nuts. I have to keep wetting it as I apply product.

If I just leave it alone, it dries in 5 minutes or so.

  12. I have shoulder length hair now that i cut it. Before that it was at my mid back. It’s typically straight but naturally I have thick 4b hair. If I let it air dry, it’ll take a few days. Blow drying takes about 45 minutes

  13. My hair is loosely wavy and it can take a whole day to dry if I let my hair air dry. If I use a hair dryer it takes less than an hour.

  14. Mines is afro curly, and it takes idk half a day to air dry. I barely blow dry my hair, not trying to heat damage my hair so that’s done on occasions. Blow dry is like idk 30 mins if done by a salon.

  15. i hate my hair very much it’s short 4c hair and i can’t do much with it. if there’s product it’ll take a long time to dry but without any products it dries very fast

  16. Straight, mid thickness…it does take more time to (air) dry in winters. In summers, it dries up within an hr or two.

  17. I have straight, fine hair that comes down to just below my shoulders. It’s quick to dry (maybe an hour or two?) so I never bother blow drying it. I’ll just rub it gently with a towel so it doesn’t drip everywhere then leave it to air dry.

  18. My hair is wavy, like 2b usually, and is a little longer than my boobs. It takes forever to dry, even when it’s much shorter like shoulder length. After showering I loosely wrap it in a cotton t-shirt for about an hour while I do other stuff, then it takes another hour ish after that to fully dry

  19. Chin length hair currently. Showered about 4 hours ago, still damp at the scalp with air drying. My hair is THICK.

I rarely blow dry – still have the same dryer I got for a Christmas present in 1980-something – but when I do, it’s only to dry off the top layer. It usually takes 3-5 minutes to do that.

  20. My hair is wavy and thick, so it takes about 2 hours to dry completely when air drying, which I do most often.

  21. Medium length, but I used to wear it longer when I was young. Dry time all depends on the humidity for me. In a dry climate like out west, it doesn’t take very long, but when I was in Texas recently it took what seemed like forever!

  22. Super thick and I air dry it because I just don’t have the patience to stand there holding a blow dryer.

  23. Former hairdresser here. The shampoo and conditioner you use, and hair product for that matter, can dramatically impact dry time. Pantene pro v is absolutely awful and it puts this waxy film on the hair. It increases dry time by 50%. It’s not limited to Pantene but I can confidently say they’re one of the biggest offenders.

Also, s/c/product impacts the health of your hair. If your hair is lacking moisture, it will take longer to dry. Treat your hair right and it will be much easier to manage no matter your hair type.
