I have been a shy person my entire life. I graduated last year, and has since then been working at a restaurant in the kitchen. I do not have to interact with guests all that much, but I think I have grown a lot as a person by getting this job as I have gotten to know many new people, as in coworkers. It took me a long time to start opening up to them, but oh how good it feels to finally feel comfortable.

I want to try to challenge myself a bit more, and came across a job as a sales person that only would be for two weeks at a festival this summer. The description literally said that “you’re in no way shy” and this is why I’m doubting myself, I guess.

Of course I want to challenge myself and get out of my comfort zone but I also don’t want to be unrealistic or put too much pressure on my self or set too high expectations.

I wanted to ask for advice here and to see if anyone’s done something similar.

  1. As its only for two weeks, you could, but sales requires you to be very persuasive.

  2. I haven’t ever worked sales to try to combat shyness. I mean, if you can get the job and it only be for two weeks (still having your other source of income secured), then more power to you.

I’d also recommend you look into a local Toastmasters to help you combat shyness.
