I’m moving home in a couple weeks and have struggled to get rid of my coins (cents/ Euros). When I was home a couple weeks ago, the bureau de changes wouldn’t take coins and I’ve survived on a Metro Bank account out here so don’t have an EU bank account to drop the coins off into, since I’d normally just go to a bank.

Does anyone have any ideas? I don’t really want to hold onto the change

  1. Vending machine in airport/train station. Not pounds, but still snacks that would cost pounds.

  2. No exchange will take foreign coins from you because it will cost them more money to process it than its worth. You’re better off giving them to the charity that collect foreign coins mostly at the airports or wait until you travel, so you can spend it all.
I used to work for one of the security cash services companies and even for pound coins, we charge banks a hell of a lot of money to collect and store it in our vault.

  3. No one will take them. Perhaps hold on in case a friend is off to a eurozone country but otherwise charities will take them.

  4. Charities will take foreign coins. If not just hold onto them for your next travels or give them / sell them to a friend.
