Whenever I’m trying to convince someone of an idea, or simply in a discussion e.g. in class/teamwork, I found myself sounding more aggressive or combative than I actually am. For instance, by the third sentence, a friend once told me to “calm down” and “chill”, which I then realized is true bc immediately the dynamic went back down to normal.

This is rather dangerous, because I don’t want to give an impression of being aggressive. I’m actually an introvert, really shy and just right now learning how to socialize like normal people. My parents both have problems communicating (mother is super aggressive with terrible mood swings and father is too quiet to even raise his voice at anything properly).

Now I’m trying my best to not be like them:((

pls help

  1. Listen then appreciate their opinion – wait for them to stop talking (sort of) – don’t be a spring trap – just waiting to say something after they finish speaking; focus on listening intently and take your time/be patient for your reply which should be calm and articulate
