If going to Ireland where do ye visit?

1. Why would I do that when I can just go to Boston?

3. Ireland isn’t that big, I’d probably try to go all over.

4. Most of the people I know jump around since you can get all over quickly. I was planning a trip to fly into Dublin, head up to Belfast and around the northern coast and end up somewhere on the west coast (forget the name right now) for a wedding and then head back to Dublin. But covid happened.

5. I’m trying to go to Northern Ireland this summer, any suggestions?

6. Went to Dublin, but I enjoyed it so much in the short time I was there I want to go back and see the rest of the country.

7. Galway and Mayo, I have family I stay with. Dublin is popular for the same reason New York, London, and Berlin are popular.

8. I’d love to go to Dublin because I hear it’s great. We know the exact house my ancestors lived in and the church they went to.

   My parents have been and really liked Killarney and Galway. But I’m open to suggestions.

10. Never been, but I’d like to take a few weeks and make a tour of it. Probably a few days in Dublin, but otherwise see the countryside. I’ve never seen a castle and I always love seeing different coasts. Maybe talk to my uncle who’s into genealogy and see if there’s anything I could look up for him, or if he knows any graveyards I should visit.

11. I prefer Galway over Dublin as well. That said, due to family history, I’ve spent more time around Donegal than the southern parts of Ireland.

12. I liked Galway a lot, but really, really enjoyed Cork. Dublin was more fun than I expected, too, and would certainly return. Wasn’t able to make it to the north, which would be where I’d start next time.

16. I went to Ireland in about 2004. We landed in Shannon, toured across the countryside to Dublin, then looped around the southern coast through Cork back to Shannon. I think my favorite places were Dublin, the cliffs of Kerry, the Hill of Tara and Limerick. Plus, the Guinness brewery. I was really into the hokey touristy stuff, though.

17. I mostly go to Dublin. Partner is originally from there and a lot of her friends and family are still there.

    I’ve been to Cork, Galway and Clare but Dublin is my favorite

18. I guess Galway and Mayo as that’s where some of my ancestors are from although I think the paternal ancestor was from Wicklow

    I don’t have a strong desire to go there to be honesty

19. Since it’s so small I’d visit a big city and visit a small little town so I could experience both city and rural Irish life. I really wanna go someday!

20. I’ve been to Dublin, County Donegal, County Sligo, and Cork. The Slieve League cliffs were probably my favorite place overall — once we hiked past the first lookout very close to the parking lot, the trail was almost empty besides sheep.

    Dublin, meh… It was just a city. The guineass plant was worth seeing but otherwise it’s a city like most others. I’m not a fan of cities.

24. Ireland is small enough that you can road trip the whole country pretty easily, so that’s what a lot of Americans do when they visit.

    When I went, my cousins and I rented a car and basically drove a giant circle from County Mayo to Galway to Shannon/Limerick, the Cliffs of Moher, Killarney, drove the Ring of Kerry, then continued on to Cork, Waterford, Dublin. We even took a day trip up through Northern Ireland to Belfast and Giant’s Causeway. It was lovely!
