I just turned 26 and I’ve been skinny all my life and don’t work out but was thinking about it recently. Anyways this week out of nowhere I’ve been very hungry. My usual meals aren’t enough to keep my full and I’ve had to eat way more than normal and that’s still barely enough. Do guys go through that hungry growing boy phase again in their mid to late 20s? I remember a coworker told me at 25 he was skinny like me and then blew up (fat) the next year.

  1. Are you eating the right kind of foods to keep you full? Are you feeling stressed? Are you drinking enough water?

  2. Yep, quite often actually. It’s been that way as far as I remember. I don’t grow, but I’ll get in a phase where I don’t really want to eat much, and then all of a sudden I just can’t eat enough. Like when I couldn’t finish 3/4’s of a meal, ill turn around a few weeks or a month later and eat that same exact meal and still want more and just can’t get full until I’ve made myself miserable. I’m 30 now and haven’t blown up, I’m still a decently lean 165lbs that can turn into a garbage disposal for food.

  3. I ate so so so much ages 14-19. Just shoveling plates of food into myself.

  4. When I was going through puberty, I ate everything. Dad used get pissed at me

  5. Your coworker’s metabolism likely slowed down in his late twenties, which is very normal. That’s why most people gain weight as they get older, even if their lifestyle doesn’t change much.

In all seriousness, if your eating patterns are changing drastically for no discernible reason, you might want to go get a blood test done and check your thyroid out.

    Edit: a word

  6. Probably now! I’ll stuff my face before bed, and wake up with a growling stomach. I remember not being able to eat more than two or three plates at the buffet. In the past, it was “easy” to ignore my hunger, but now?

    TL;DR when I got “fat” ie late 20s-early 30s
