I’ve tried reading other posts about this, but they’re all pre-lockdown and I’m not in a position where I can freely visit my friend and spend time with her in-person. I’ve already thought about dropping by quickly with some ice cream, but I find that I’m at a loss for what to say over FaceTime. I stayed silent to lend a listening ear, but she didn’t seem to want to say much. She asked me what went wrong, what she should do now, and I wasn’t sure what to say, but it seemed more rhetorical anyway? I always have a tough time coming up with the right words to say, so I would appreciate any guidance for someone who’s been in the same position as my friend. For context, they broke up due to the boyfriend not willing to go long distance.

  1. Sometimes it’s nice to just have someone to talk to about other things and someone who makes you laugh. If you know nights are hard for her, call her at night , ask how she is doing, lend a shoulder for her to cry on, talk about something funny. She still might not wanna talk much, but at least she will know you tried. Nothing you can do specifically. Time will heal her.
