So we got someone to come and put tiles in our kitchen, behind the sink and hob.

He’s left one of the plugs out a bit and missed a bit of grout which he’s said he will sort, but there are a couple of things I’m not sure about.

Where the counter meets the tiles there is just grout. Having a Google it looks like there should be caulk or something there instead.

Also I’ve read about waterproof grout. It doesn’t appear that he’s used that anywhere, but should he have done?

Any ideas or help would be helpful.

  1. Pics would help! But in brief:

you will probably find the screws fow the sockets are not long enough, that’s why he hasn’t fitted them, you can get longer ones, they are pennies.
You want mastic (not caulk) for the edges, don’t buy cheap! Get the flexible stuff. Just grout won’t stop water getting between the tiles and worktop. It’s a fairly straightforward job, if the tiler can’t cope with it then he shouldn’t be a tiler!
