Will it hurt me socially if I travel alone for a month?

I’ve been wanting to travel and explore the world for a while now but the feeling that I will miss out on opportunities to meet new people in my city is holding me back. I don’t have friends where I live so I feel that socializing here is a priority above traveling. That being said I may end up staying and not meeting anyone. I once left home for like two months and lost a bunch of friends…

I’m so confused.
