yes shared accommodation is a quite common here.
I once tried to live in a tent on a campsite for a while when I was between houses. It was going to cost more than renting a room in a shared house.
It depends where in the UK you want to live. If you’re going around London and the South East it’ll cost a lot. If you don’t mind going further north then outside of major and historic cities the prices drop, although you’ll only get dirt cheap if you find run-down areas.
It’s too general a question. Are you coming here for work? Are you a student? Whereabouts in the UK would you like to live?
Generally speaking, rental prices are pretty high just now and there is a huge demand.
