I (27M) have been consistently talking to/seeing someone (25F) for the past month, and things have been awesome. She knows how to maintain a conversation, our senses of humor are similar, and we poke fun at each other and flirt plenty. I honestly feel drawn to her and want to ask her if we can date exclusively.

Thing is though, I’ve recently undergone some drastic personal growth that makes me uncertain of what I want in a partner or if I’m ready to be in a LTR (It’s primarily related to being able to stand up for myself and setting boundaries). So I have doubts about our compatibility in the long-term (or if what we have is what I want long-term), despite truly enjoying her company in the short-term.

Would it be wrong for me to ask her to start dating exclusively when I feel this way, or is the whole point of dating to determine the long-term compatibility? Can someone ethically go into a dating situation without intending for it to last?

I’m confident everyone intends at first to take it “one date at a time”, and just see where that goes.
