I’m a cashier at a gas station and only within the recent years my confidence is starting to skyrocket, which is badass because i have a severely low self esteem due to trauma. I have autism (dsm5) and I’ve been reading ‘What Every BODY is Saying’ by Joe Navarro because while I’ve always been good at picking up body language cues, i was never confident enough to distinguish them confidently or even accurately. Someone could be overtly mad and id only be convinced that they were somewhat mad bc in my world words communicate better than nonverbals, oh well.

Anyways I’m usually very self aware of my body language, but whenever I cashier people seem to want to run away from me when we near the end of the transaction. I’m known for being incredibly kind to the customers and i dont know what vibes i could be giving off. Thoughts?

  1. I doubt it’s personal. They might be in a hurry or just in the habit of not making conversation with cashiers.
