I’ve been moved around temporary housing for the past 15 years. The council gave me a temporary accommodation for 6 months initially in 2016 and I’m still living here. They said I have to leave in July and offered me another temporary accommodation. They said if I don’t take this then I have to live in a hostel.

How can I get permanent housing for me and my kids?

The condition of the house I was living in was horrible and I know they’ll forget about me again if I take this new accommodation.

I have 1 month or I’m in a hostel…

  1. Talk to your housing officer, local councillors, County councillors then MP.

    Lay it on thick.

  2. Ask Shelter’s advice line or red about your rights [https://england.shelter.org.uk/get_help](https://england.shelter.org.uk/get_help)

Your housing officer is the key person, if you don’t have a good relationship with them then see if you can find an advocate to help. There are different advocacy options depending on your area, situation etc. e.g. specific minority group, physical or mental health, domestic abuse etc.
