What does the belly-button do?

  1. the belly-button is actually just a scar from your umbilical cord, as far as i know

  2. It does nothing after you are born.

But while you were growing in your mothers womb the umbilical cord attached from you to the placenta and that’s essentially how you were fed in utero.

When you’re born the umbilical cord is snipped close to your tummy and tied off. After about a week or so the last bit of the umbilical cord scab falls off and your left with a belly button.

Parents have to keep it very clean for you for the first 2-3 weeks after the scab falls off
