Buffalo Trace but it’s sometimes hard to find
My everyday go to is Knob Creek.
You won’t really go wrong with anything in the 20-35 dollar range as long as it’s not flavored. There are some OK cheaper bottles such as Old Grandad which can do the job. Grand Larceny might be the most bang for your buck when it comes to taste and cost.
Markers mark
I like Walking Stick. I think it’s similar to Blanton’s at half the cost and you can probably find it fairly easily.
Everyone is recommending great whiskeys.
To answer your question directly, for an Old Fashioned I prefer a nice, full bodied Rye.
My go to is Basil Hayden. Mixed smooth and is delightful in a mixed drink.
Basil Hayden. It reminds me of a girl.
Ask him what his favorite whiskey is
Your favorite Rye.
Maker’s Mark is my favorite
Woodford Rye
My go to is always a nice bottle of cinder dick bourbon
Bullet Rye is really good
Look in the liquor cabinet
I typically use Woodford Reserve as my go to for an old fashioned
Angels Envy
Blanton’s bourbon
Woodford, Knob Creek, Four Roses.
Eagle rare if you can find it. Or maybe angel’s envy.
Rittenhouse Rye is a solid and inexpensive bottle.
Elijah Craig Small Batch makes a nice old fashioned.
