I am currently getting a car and I will be getting insured. I am moving from one university accommodation to another on the 1st of July, however I just came to my uncle’s where I will be staying for 3 months. Should I put my new address as his house or my new accommodation where I will spend most time throughout the academic year 2022/23? Also, I won’t be able to get the new licence with new address until I move to the new accommodation at the other side of the country (if I go that route). Any advice?

  1. You need to give the DVLA an address that you will *promptly* receive mail sent to. For example you have 28 days to respond to a S172 notice (to identify the driver) or you commit a criminal offence.

And you need to update your driving licence and all your vehicle registrations (V5C) **separately**. So many people screw this up, they only do one and then end up with unpaid fines and charges or worse.
