Thursday – Friday – Saturday next weekend we are flying from Northern Ireland to London for a break. We have are staying in Soho and have already booked the Harry potter studio tour, Musical show and natural history museum.

Any tips for restaurants, lunch spots, things to see. places to go ect…. We are pretty open minded with what we like to eat and do. So open to anything really.

  2. Agree with other commenter that London literally has everything so name some interests and we can tailor for you!

My favourite places in London are the Barbican conservatory, the Hayward Gallery, the Wallace Collection and hitting the charity shops around High Street Kensington. But everyone else will have completely different favourites because there is so much to see!

  3. Asking for a recommendation for a restaurant in London is like going to Foyles on Charing X Road and asking for a recommendation for ‘a book’. What type of thing are you looking for? London has lots, at every budget.

Otherwise, we just have to make assumptions and guess what you want.

E.g. let’s assume that you want good sushi. Sushi Samba in Heron Tower is an experience you can only have in a world city like London, for all the good and bad that can mean. The lift alone is worth the trip. It’s South American-Japanese fusion with loud music, excellent panoramic views, expensive but good food and surrounded by a crowd of city workers with more money than sense.

Or; Dinnings is better sushi but more expensive still. You want the Marylebone branch where you get shoved in next to the vents in the basement, not the more lavish experience of the Mayfair branch.

Or; Kurobuta is more irreverent and street-style in attitude, mixing decent sushi in with yakatori and other modern hawker Japanese dishes. Go on a hot day and have with their (literally) frozen beer.

These are all pretty uniquely ‘London’ experiences, for better or worse.

  4. Seven Dials Market. Cool place. Lots to amazing things to eat and drink. The cheese conveyor belt is unbelievable!

  5. Worth checking out Opium in Chinatown. Awesome cocktails and dim sum.

Duck and Waffle in the Heron Tower.

    Jinjuu for Korean food.

  6. I’ll suggest a walk. Start at Tower Hill. See the Tower and St Catherine Docks. Cross Tower Bridge. Lunch at Borough Market. Walk west along the south bank, you’ll see The Globe Theatre, St Pauls, Millenium Bridge, Tate Modern (you can go in for free). Continue to London eye. View of Big Ben. Cross bridge, Covent Garden and back to Soho.

There are pubs along the way.

  7. There’s quite a few nice little cafes and restaurants near to the natural history museum but they always seem busy so you might want to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

I’d plan your trip so you’re in the same area of London each day if possible. I’d avoid going to the NHM and then to Greenwich as yes it’s in the same city but it might take the best part of an hour to get between them. You don’t want to spend 3-4 hours each day on the tubes.

Greenwich is interesting and the cutty Sark is just round the corner if that’s interesting to you. You can get the tube or Thames clipper down that way. The globe theatre is also on the Thames clipper route and probably close by on tube

  8. Just an FYI.. the Harry potter studio is out near Watford. There’s very little to do nearby, especially in walking distance.

  9. Some ideas for places to eat in London could include:

-The Breakfast Club (a chain of popular breakfast/brunch spots)

-Bao (a Taiwanese restaurant with several locations in London)

    -Hakkasan (a Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant)

Some ideas for things to do in London could include:

-Checking out some of the city’s many museums, such as the British Museum or the Tate Modern

-Walking along the South Bank of the Thames

-Visiting Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle

-Going on a Jack the Ripper walking tour

  10. I would use the first day to get out of London because it’s a shit hole.

  11. But who are you exactly? A couple? Family with kids? Group of youngsters? So we help more according to what suits you.
