I have 2 close friends who are going to this pride march tomorrow that they told me about today with their friends, they didn’t invite me outright, but they told me about it when they didn’t have to, and our conversation was cut short because of an interruption.
Is it okay for me in this situation to ask if I can join them tomorrow, or even generally, is it ever okay to ask somebody if you can join them to a social event when you haven’t been invited outright?

yeah, it’s fine to ask.
don’t go unless they say yes though.
If they’re close friends you should feel comfortable asking them about it
