I have a hobby business that I have a small website for. At the moment I’m not doing any work with it and honestly not sure when or if it’ll start up again.

The web hosting with godaddy is due for renewal at £85 / 5 years. Right now, that would be a total waste of £85.

I don’t want to lose the name and everything associated with it though. Is there a way to hold onto it for a cheaper cost (or even free!)

Thanks!

  1. You can park it with sedo for free, it doesn’t have to be on sale and you can get paid for ad revenue

  2. Pay the icann fee through godaddy and ditch any extras like web hosting and email. I pay £20 per year to park a .com domain and £15 for a .co.uk. both purchased from godaddy

  3. GoDaddy is awful, ditch them.

You don’t need to renew in 5 year chunks, you can do 1 year. It doesn’t cost anything to park a domain.

  4. You need to keep the registration but pause the hosting.

Speak to godaddy as to how to do this
