This might be a dumb question, I admit I’ve grown a bit awkward over the years.

Somebody in my house called a plumber and they already briefed the plumber on the problem. What do I say in passing, I want to go to the kitchen and if we pass by each other I want to greet him.

A simple ‘hi’ sounds fine but what would I say after that. Do I need to say something after that? Just hi and silence?

Lately I’ve overthinking a lot of social interactions.

  1. A hi would do. Most of the time I’ll just ask if they would like a beverage like coffee, some do appreciate it.

Remember that people come in situations where people are very social awkward and want to dissappear, so it’s not new for them.

  2. ´If you need anything, *and I do mean anything*, I am but a whisper away ‘

then wink and do not break eye contact.

The longer you stare after saying that sentence, the better.

  3. Understand that the plumber might be a little on-edge and just be trying to get the job done and get out. Plumbers have to go to the homes of the strangest and most unpleasant people and literally deal with their shit. They should appreciate a “Hi, how’s it going? Do you need me to move any stuff out of your way?”

You can quiz them on the 3 rules of plumbing:

    1. Shit flows downhill.
    2. Payday’s on Friday.
    3. Never lick your fingers.

I don’t know why, but 90% of plumbers show a lot of crack when they bend over. Don’t be surprised to see that when you walk in the kitchen.
