So, my wife seems to have little to no trust in me when drunk. I’m starting a new job that is a field job and will require me to travel. Me and my wife were drinking last night, my wife got heavily drunk, and in her ramblings she said “I don’t like that this job requires you to travel. You’re going to be out of town with a paid hotel room and plenty of money for hoes. You’ll be a traveling roof inspector, you’ll be able to get women! And I’m afraid you’re gonna take your ring off, leave it in the glove compartment of car, and decide your only married in Illinois!”. Is that just the booze talking or might drunk words be sober thoughts? 🤔

  1. She has concerns, she has some trust issues. This could be totally unrelated to your relationship, or there maybe some merit. People who travel tend to drink and meet people who do not cared that they are married. For some marriages this works and all is good, for some who fail to keep vows and drink it can be a nightmare.

  2. Yes and no. Drunk thoughts are thoughts without analysis.

Take your wife’s comments. Yes, she thought them. If she hadn’t been drunk, she would have done the additional analysis to realize that you haven’t given her any reason to believe that stuff would actually happen. Drunk wife says the things. Sober wife doesn’t because she realizes they are not thoughts worth entertaining because they won’t happen.

  3. These are true concerns. Address them with her, sober. This is a real chance to communicate and listen.

  4. Being drunk makes some people more confident to say how they feel. Being drunk you can say things that mean nothing at all or make you more emotional or vulnerable.

Best way to look at it whenever me or the wife say things when drunk we ignore and discuss it tomorrow and half the time it’s just drink talking and had no relevance to how we felt when sober

I’ve never been one to believe the truth comes out when drunk as that method we would all be single

  5. That’s because that’s what she would do given the same circumstances.

  6. Yes I’d say that’s how she feels.

People who are drunk have less inhabitions which prevent you from doing things even if you want to.

So if she is expressing lots of feelings when she is drunk, there is definitely something there.
