What do I do when someone says their parents don’t let them date?

2. Here’s a lesson you can try to get now, or come back to it in a year: You dont always get an explanation, you are not owed an explanation. I get where you are coming from with ‘sadly I gotta know this’. But the reality is their parents dont allow it and that’s the end. Is there something you can do? Yes, you can move on and let go of the hope you are clinging to. You are attached to this hope that you will get an explanation, or a hope that there is a way to get what you want. But hanging onto that hope is what will cause you more confusion and hurt. Hope this helps!

Either that is the truth and they are not allowed to date and it’s not up to you to try and get them to break that rule and suffer whatever consequences there may be, or they told you that because they didnt want to date you but didn’t want to, or know how to, be direct about it. You just acknowledge that and move it along
