In My Country we wash even our cast iron pans in the dishwasher to keep them nice.

Every home, even the oldest brick ones, is furnished with a Bosch Dishwasher which are made in Germany. Is it true you do not do this? How does it feel knowing you’re eating scum from your last meal?

  1. I have a lovely Bosch dishwasher.

I don’t put my cast iron in it, but I also don’t use cast iron much and I *do* clean it, just not in the dishwasher. It’s extremely heavy

  2. When it’s time for my annual shower, I bring the pans in there with me. I only use axe 3 in 1 to really make sure those pans shine.

  3. In America it’s a crime to put a cast iron skillet in the dishwasher. The prison sentence varies by state, but ranges from 2-10 years. It’s taken very seriously here.

  4. I don’t care about this April fools joke, I just care about your username and that your location is actually listed as Beaver Island. It is the weirdest references I have ever seen in a username.

  5. The scum from the old food gives the new food flavor. It’s called recycling

  6. Nah a spray from the garden hose and let the dog have at it, and it’s so clean even the neighbors couldn’t tell.

  7. Wait, you eat from the same pans and plates multiple times?

No, we just throw them out after we use them and then buy new ones, as God intended! Much more sanitary that way.

  8. You just shoot the filth off. The more you do it the cleaner it gets, and your food gets seasoned with a nice lead flavor.

  9. Best to hang them outside so the sand storms can blast them clean. And more environmentally friendly, too!

  10. Okay but for real I have a Bosch and it’s legit the best. Just in case anyone wanted a dishwasher rec off a tongue-in-cheek post.

  11. Well the dishwasher is not good for cast iron pans. I heat mine up super hot and scrape wipe with fresh oil til clean keeps em non stick never rusts etc.

  12. The only way to clean cast iron ware is to heat it up even more. I never drop my fish on a pan thats not actually glowing red. Sizzle.

  13. Well, the biggest difference you’re missing is *we don’t use pans*. Let’s say we’re cooking some scrambled eggs: We just crack the eggs directly onto the burner, and wipe it up after. Easy peasy.
