Which word you’ve never said out loud?

  1. Most of the words in all the languages I speak? I’ve been talking all day in portuguese for 30+ years and I’m pretty sure I haven’t said half of the words in the dictionary, let alone the words in english.

  2. Pretty sure I’ve never said shibboleth aloud. I did see that one episode of The West Wing though, so I get the importance of pronouncing it correctly.

  3. I’m not a native English speaker and only use it online (I’m from Switzerland and use German and French in my everyday life instead), so I’ve never actually said most English terms I know out loud considering I’ve rarely had an opportunity to do so.

Otherwise when it comes to my native languages: a good chunk of the vocabulary from the various components in my blueprints. Since the technical plans are essentially the instructions for the mechanics by themselves and have the list of pieces written on them, there are a lot of items I’ve designed and typed out in my CAD programs without ever pronouncing their names out loud.

  4. Grew up bombarded with racist jokes, never once said the “N” word as a result.
