I happened to be in LA during this year’s 4th of July, but barely any people celebrated, I thought people are gonna be absolutely drunk and wear the national colours, huge fireworks etc…
Yet the fireworks while they looked great they weren’t special, we Hungarians have a very similar holiday the 20th of August it’s the day our nation was founded, people that day are drunk as hell the fireworks go on for an hour or so, and tons of people wear the national colours.
I thought this is one of if not the biggest national event you have, isn’t it?

I’m fighting *so hard* right now to avoid making the obvious joke about Californians, so I’ll just say 4th of July everywhere I’ve lived has been *wild*.
There was about $1000 worth of fireworks at the party we went to, and TNT Fireworks does buy one get one deals on damn near everything, so there was a pretty considerable amount of ordnance.
