It seems to be kind of hit and miss. Certain schools and boards reply with a day or so, a maximum of two, whereas I have to wait weeks or months for others, which to my mind is far too long. Even allowing for normal human capacity, things need to get done in a timely fashion.

I’ve communicated with people all around the world (India, Philipines etc) in both professional and personal capacities, and generally, replies are consistent if ghosting if not involved. Just wondering if it’s a matter of being understaffed, or that money talks and rich schools have more staff than poor (though I have gotten replies from the latter quickly as well)

  1. Yes. There’s a reason, “hurry up and wait” is their slogan.

Too much traffic, not enough communication.

  2. Yeah, pretty much. People hate dealing with the government in any of it’s myriad forms for the most part.

  3. Yes. It’s worse as people have quit/retired/died during covid and other people have begun working in private sectors because government work is woefully underfunded.

  4. The stereotype of government is slow and inefficient. it isn’t universal though.

  5. With something as granular and local as school boards, it’s always going to be hit or miss. It depends on both their level of staffing, on their level of communication traffic, and on the competence and professionalism of their staff.
