Why do people/ guys im interested in that are part of close knit friend groups always want nothing to do with me or literally tell me to stop talking to them

Why are people that are part of a friend group always gatekeep their friend group and don’t let anyone near it like talking to anyone or associating with anyone? And they’ll tell you to stop talking to them/ hanging out with them then it’s just the old group again.
