Is asking a girl to get ice cream for first date a good idea?

  1. A walk in a public place like a park + ice cream or coffee seems like an excellent, low-stress, low commitment first date.

  2. My girlfriend would’ve loved that. Our 2nd date was pizza and bowling while our first was a movie.

  4. A few days before the date tell her you are in the mood for icecream and are going to head to the store. Then ask her favorite flavor. If she has a problem with it she will tell you then. If not you take her on an icecream date and say “I held off my craving for icecream so that I could share it with you.”

  5. Seems pretty ok, there’s not a huge pressure on it, if the girl is not too fancy, she might like it, it’s a very safe choice.

  6. Yep excellent idea if you know she likes ice cream, better ask her if you don’t know if she doesn’t like it have a back up, fancy tea house works well.

  7. I mean, make sure she likes ice cream, but in general, heck yes.

My partner regularly suggests we grab ice cream on days out and it’s become one of our things.

  8. Just have a back up plan if she says she doesn’t like or can’t have ice cream.

  9. The last ice cream date I took a girl ended with me buying her a Plan B the next morning. Be careful

  10. Isn’t this the kind of thing you should be asking on r/AskWomen for proper feedback?

  11. There’s a good chance she could be lactose intolerant so just know that beforehand. Maybe find a place that also does sorbet or coffee.

  12. That’s a thing you do as part of the date, not the date itself. The date is like…oh let’s check out this park or this cool little downtown area or go to a show or whatever and then you get ice cream along the way because you know there’s a good shop there.

  13. Its perfect. I usually suggest exactly this for a first date for the following reasons:
    1. It’s relatively inexpensive.
    2. It’s casual.
    3. It doesn’t take too long to eat an ice cream, so if your not hitting it off, you can end it in 30 mins.
    4. It’s messy. It shows me how well you can deal with being slightly inconvenienced.
    5. Even if it goes poorly, you still had an ice cream.

  14. 10/10 idéal in my opinion. It’s low commitment like coffee but more delicious.

  15. If she is interested in you it likely doesn’t matter that much where you go as long as it’s safe for her.

  16. Well I at least know it woulda worked on my ex. Then again she did have a slight obsession with it so not sure if it counts

  17. Reasonable if there’s somewhere nearby that you can talk and get to know each other.
