This girk I work with used to come to my office all of the time to say hi. She would bring me candy, or ask me to help or with little random stuff. She has a boyfriend who she complains about all the time, so I’ve only ever talked to her during work hours. Last week we were sitting around my office, and had an exchange that went something like this:

Me: “Hey, i’m gonna be here on sunday to work on a personal project If you get bored or whatever”

Her with a “fuck that”, light hearted kind of tone: No, i’m not gettin payed” or something like that.

Me: “i mean I wasn’t saying proposing you come in and do work”

And that’s basically the last actual conversation I had with her. As of about 2 weeks ago, we started working on different floors. The first few days she would come by and say something to me, but she hasn’t done it since then. She is now greeting me the same way you would a random acquaintance you don’t talk to often.

Is there anything I can say to turn it around?

You’re probably overthinking it. She’s likely just made friends with the people she now works around so has other people to socialize with.

She has a boyfriend though. Plenty of people complain about their partners a lot, but it doesn’t mean they’re going to split. They’re just airing things they can’t say to their partner.
