I really want to be more social and outgoing. I am going to be a senior in a couple days, and I am going to college next year. I don’t enjoy hanging around people because I don’t like the stress it causes to have to analyze if I’m being too quiet or doing too much and causing others to not like me. I really want to change because I want to have a fun and normal college experience. So far I am thinking of getting a job to feel more comfortable around people. Advice?

  1. If you really want to practice then trying being a cashier at a grocery store (optimally like a Whole Foods or Traders Joes). Being a bartender is good as well and that’s a pretty good skill after college.

If you don’t do the job route then the alternative is you have to just put yourself in social situations yourself and then focus on one aspect of social skills and keep iterating. Maybe one month it’s story telling, maybe another month is a different aspect of charisma. Then just keep iterating and it’s like you have many tools in your toolshed
