I’m in my 30s, 6’2-‘6’3 285lb i’m a BHM, As a young person i never had trouble dating but as of the the past decade i been more of a hermit and not as social, I recently decided to get back into dating hoping i would maybe meet someone cool I’m not even really focusing on the relationship aspect of things just a someone i can call a friend.

So i signup for FB Dating and my very first match was rude AF, To put things into perspective she was very beautiful i merely complimented her eyes and she went full psycho on me saying that “the feeling isn’t mutual” and proceeded to make fun of my glasses, weight etc. at which point i was convinced it was a catfish/guy or something so i moved on…

Next match was a female barber, Which caught my eye because i’ve been searching for a decent barber for awhile now; Nevertheless her profile was also offering her services, When i message her inquiring about examples of her cuts, She goes full on rage mode on me dissing my barber and attempting to insinuate that i have a receding hairline when that’s far from the truth; If anything i have too much hair on my forehead and a widows peak, It was just…weird.

These 2 scenarios have left a terrible taste in my mouth, Like is this really how online dating is in 2022? For a minute i thought i was overreacting but after discussing it with a few friends, I don’t think i am. I realize i’m just venting now but i’m hoping Reddit has some suggestions/tips for sites to try etc.

  1. im 6′ 3” and 288lbs right now. im not having similar issues. and even when i was bigger i havent had a hard time dating. it was easier when i slimmed down, yes. but if you understanding dating your weight shouldnt hurt you much, especially when youre tall

  2. As a bigger guy its been my experience that A lot of women will match with you just to insult you. No intention of anything else they do it on the first or 2nd comment.

  3. This is a really small sample size and this has nothing to do with you being a bigger guy, IMO. Some people are assholes, online especially, when they think they can hide behind a screen. Online dating takes thick skin and it sounds like you just had the misfortune of dealing with 2 total duds
