Im an incoming freshmen and recently got added to a group chat with my blockmates, and though we all haven’t met one another, most of my blockmates have already warmed up to each other as they are always having a conversation in the group chat. I also kinda wanna join in the conversation but I dont know how, I dont know if I am even allowed to reply to other people talking to each other, it also feels overwhelming and awkward to be in a group chat with numerous people I have never met and strike up a conversation.
I’ve answered few questions in the group chat, I’ve asked a few questions regarding our subjects as well but that’s about it. I can’t seem to ride on the conversation and naturally make a friend, it’s so hard. Like, what am I supposed to say??
Even my simple question and answers took up a lot of courage to send since I’m afraid that they’d find me awkward or boring, though I think I am. I just wanna improve socializing a little bit since I’m afraid I might make 0 friends in college. And if I am like this when just interacting online, would I really just fold and sit in a corner when I meet them in person for classes? Kinda afraid for myself.
