They sent me an envelope with that postcode on it, but I can’t find it anywhere online, and I was wondering if I should send stuff there or to the normal postcode.

  1. If you type in “SA99 1AE” into Google the very first result is the DVLA office in Swansea, I don’t see the issue.

  2. IIRC that postcode will ‘map’ to a specific floor or department in the. DVLA building, so you should use that one, yes.

  3. Everything SA99 is DVLA. The last part is more about getting to the right department first time. Using the wrong postcode can delay things while things get rerouted internally.

A Google leads me to SA99 1AE being for “Drivers Resubmissions”. I’m guessing they’re asking for you to send more information/documents.

  4. If they sent you the envelope, then use it.

Basically, organsiations that receive a LOT of post can take more than one postcode and that helps them sort the post in advance, so to speak.

  5. That’s the One-liners Department. The whole Joke Factory has 12 such departments with emphasis on different ways of taking the piss.

  6. All DVLA addresses are “virtual”, they’re routed internally inside Royal Mail, they go to different departments. They are pretty good at getting it to the right one too, but be noted that they’ve got a HUGE backlog and it’ll take even longer if re-routed.

There was a “secret camera” thing a bit back that the staff talked about how they get trolleys of mail in every day, and it used to be they’d clear them all that day, but because a lack of staff they’re building up. So that newer trolleys are infront of the old, and thus the older ones take even longer to process.

Which explains where mine went for 7 months

    Google has

    >Drivers Resubmissions, Driving & Vehicle Licensing Centre, SWANSEA, SA99 1AE
