Hey all, I began the fall semester and there’s a person in one of my class who seems to want to be my friend or is possibly romantically interested in me. However, I’ve decided recently that I don’t want to start any new social relationships (unless necessary) for personal reasons. Is there a way I can let them down softly without coming off as mean?

I mean, just casually drop it into a conversation when it feels relevant. If they have any questions, you can clarify at that point. I wouldn’t just drop it on them though.
