I met someone online 2 weeks ago. I knew from the get-go that he was only in my location for work, and would be going home. His location is too far to travel, and he has a situation at home that makes a LDR unfeasible.

I wasn’t looking for anything long-term when we met, but pretty quickly saw what a wonderful person (and lover) he is. Now that he’s left, I find myself inexplicably sad. Crying upon waking up as if I was just dumped by a long-term partner.

How do I move on from these feelings?

Tl;dr: had a great two weeks getting to know someone. They went back home. Feeling too sad.

  1. You are likely experiencing limerance. Or new relationship energy.

And the removal of it. A dopamine increase and a drop.

It was great and amazing but it will pass.

Appreciate it for the fun it was but move on. If he comes back you need to think about if the eventual loss is worth the high. It is not for us to say

Put yourself out there. Love yourself. Know you deserve great and amazing things and people.

  2. I feel this once when I was backpacking and travelling I had a week fling in Cambodia and the same happened to me when I had to fly home I spent weeks crying I couldn’t eat for a few days it was a intense passionate whirlwind fling. It did eventually pass though just took time.
