I came back to my home country because of covid and likely will be here for a while and wanted to get into the dating scene however the place still has a conservative mindset and dating apps in general do not really work…except tinder but it’s kinda weird. I am told that sliding into facebook dms do actually work however.
Since I came back my list of suggested friends on facebook has been giving me new people, likely beacuse of the change in location, and I saw this one girl that I don’t know but have quite a few mutual friends with. Later on when swiping on tinder I came accross her profile, which points me into thinking that she’s single, so I looked at her fb profile and saw that she’s studied abroad as well and similarly came back and is working here.
I’m really not sure how to slide into dms, I have mostly been on hinge from melbourne and prompts really made conversations easy when matched, however this time around I think it’s weird if I open into anything that’s related to her fb profile. I also don’t open up as too strong, given she’s back home, she might have that conservative mindset as well? I think that I should shoot my shot, something happens great, nothing happens, then yeah move on.
Been thinking something along the line of: ‘Hey I keep seeing you in my suggested friends, but I don’t really know you, you wanna change that?’ This kinda opens things, but seems slightly rude, but also does not put me directly in the friendzone either. Please advice 🙁
