Hello,

Please no condescending answers if it’s obvious, but would it be cheaper to use an electric air fryer than using my gas oven?

I have avoiding getting one as I have a small kitchen but I as well as the majority of the country have been trying to see where I can cut down costs.

However, I live on my own so the gas standing charge would also come into consideration I think if I didn’t use the cooker as much?

  1. yes, first of all, it a smaller area to heat up vs the space of the oven.
plus stuff quick quicker in the air fryer vs the oven.

the only time i now use the oven is when doing pizza as it does not fit in the air fryer, if it fits in the air fryer then i use the air fryer.

  2. With factoring in the initial outlay of buying a half decent air fryer it will take a fair amount of time (up to a year depending on usage) for you to break even.

If you have the money to get one then get one. If you don’t I wouldn’t bother trying to save to afford one.

  3. We’ve just bought a Ninja one.
Not sure if it’s cheaper yet as it’s too soon, but considering the much quicker cooking time than our fan oven, AND better tasting food, I’m sticking with it. 👍

  4. We have an air fryer that we bought a long while ago… A dual drawer food ninja deal from Costco. I would say it’s pretty much replaced our oven. Food is cooked faster, better results, easy to clean, one side vegetarian, other side meat ‘friendly’ and can easily be programmed to sync time length.

  5. Newly single, I got myself one a couple of weeks ago. I’ve not used my oven at all since it arrived. They’re basically a small oven that heats up faster, uses less power and cooks food quicker. I’m a convert.
