I recently earned a student manager position for college team. I’m really struggling trying to find my place and integrate myself into a squad that has already developed relationships. I just feel like an outsider that nobody notices. I wanted this position because I love the sport but it’s tough to stay hopeful in this job when barely anyone on the team has tried to have a conversation with me. I understand it can be difficult and they are not at practices to get to know me. But please are there any tips or steps I can take to start finding/creating opportunities to interact with the players and hopefully develop some friendships. It is still early on and I’ve only been with them for a few weeks. I’m just very anxious that I could possibly go an entire year and not come out at the end with any new friends.
