I’m 22M, just graduated and had my social circle reduced by about 90% due to career locations my friends all picked.

So I’ve been on the pursuit of trying to make new friends. Rec sports is one thing I’m doing, and that’s been pretty good. But another thing I wanted to check out was meetups based off of my interests.

I joined a bowling league that has a bunch of teams. Mine being one of people who liked nerd stuff.

I had my first session tn, holy shit I have never met more awkward people in my life.

Like I get it, new people can be intimidating. But most of these people weren’t even attempting to make conversation. Their body language was just so awkward and half of them didn’t look like they’ve taken showers in the past week.

The girls were less socially awkward than the guys were but at least they actually looked like they showered.

Not even mentioning the fact that basically all these guys were in their late 20s and early 30s and acted like they were 14.

Where are the “normal” people?

Like I’m not extroverted enough to where I can just talk to random people at bars, but I can also hold conversations and know how to not be awkward. I feel stuck.

My only hope is only half of our “team” showed up so hopefully the other half are more socially competent people. And hopefully more of the normal people stay after for drinks or whatever.
