My husband and I’s 10 year anniversary is coming up in December. We talked about maybe asking his mom to watch our 3 years why we go. We’d like something that is not a huge expense and will probably be driving. Do you recommend a place to go?

We live in central Illinois and I don’t feel like there’s much around us because it’s winter.

I just want to spend some time alone with each other without the kids because we always have them.

So any suggestions or places you liked, let me know please! I appreciate it!!

  1. Dauphin island , AL is nice and pretty cheap.
Idk about December though, it’s in the panhandle so it might be too cold…50’s

  2. Last year my husband and I went to a cabin in the mountains for our anniversary and its probably our favorite thing we’ve done so far. A hot tub under the stars, out in the middle of nowhere!
My favorite thing to do is putting the dates on Airbnb and checking whats available in the area we’re interested in.

  3. Mexico! Cheap flights from IL on lowcosters , plenty of affordable accommodation and restaurants! Personally, I love playa del Carmen 🥰

  4. Galena, IL is a fun historic town with some fun vineyards and cute shops. Plus a walking ghost tour! Similarly, Traverse city Michigan is gorgeous and there’s a ton to do in northern Michigan.

  5. The Hocking Hills in southeast Ohio are beautiful, the parks are free, and there are so many beautiful cabins (most of them have hot tubs and gas grills) available to rent for very reasonable prices (don’t use airbnb, book through one of the many cabin rental companies). You can cook your own food so that saves a lot of money. It’s a really relaxing and romantic place. My wife and I have been there twice.
