Is there a bottle deposit-refund system in your country? (I’ll make a map and post it.)

1. No, you’re expected to return them anyway. And most people do, there’s collector bins for PET, aluminium and glass in every big supermarket and in public places.

2. Yes, yes and yes.

   We return plastic bottles (soda, juice), cans (soda, beer) and glass (soda, beer, sometimes wine) for 10-30 eurocent a bottle/can.

   In the United Kingdom: absolutely nope.

4. One-way PET bottles and cans: 25 cents.

   Reusable PET or glass bottles, for softdrinks or water and also beer bottles with clip-lock: 15 cent

   Standard beer bottles: 8 cents

5. Has been for decades… In fact one of the companies pioneering the system of return of bottles is actually from Norway, Tomra.. making the first machine of that type back in 1972… Remember way back in time norway were among the very few who had a return system. The first machines where quite “funny”.. It was just a hole in the wall where you “shuffled” your bottles on a rotating disk and a person stood on the other side of the wall collecting and sorting the bottles manually… where different value on different types/size of bottles. In recent year the machines have been more modern.

   In the machines nowadays.. you can either get your money back or you could choose to buy “lottery” for the amount of bottles you return, with the possibility of winning approx. 100.000 euros.. One of the “problems” with the return system in norway is that a lot of things with return (bottles/cans) are bought in sweden.. and the norwegian machines will not accept them.. So if you want to get your return.. you need to take the bottles/cans all the way back to Sweden..

   There’s also a [system](https://www.oeras.no/getfile.php/136429-1605000303/Bilder/Returpunkter/20201105_122130.jpg%20%28optimized_original%29.jpg) for things that you don’t get return (money for) .. They are normally placed in the area people live, or nearby shops/malls..

   So “Yes” to all your alternatives.. though there are some “stuff” that are not “desposit-refund”.. still you have a place to return that stuff as well.

7. We’ve had deposit on bigger plastic bottles (1L+) and glass beer bottles (and beer crates) for decades. Since July last year they also added plastic bottles smaller than a liter. And from next year there will also be deposit on cans as well.

8. Yes, yes and yes. Danmark. We get 1/1.5/2.5 danish crowns for returning bottles bought in Danmark. Depending on the size of the bottle/glass. Only hard liquor like vodka and whiskey and the like bottles, and wine bottles dont have a return system, that directly pays you. Though we have seperate trash deposit containers for those glass bottles which does not have “pant” as it is called in Danmark.

Belgium, based on how a store clerk explained their system, only has returns on beer bottles, which is quite weird, since the return machine I saw in Belgium was identical to the ones in Denmark (which accept cans, plastic bottles, and glass bottles). I tried to put in a generic plastic bottle and it got spat out.

10. We have for plastic bottles (PET) and for aluminium cans, but not for glas unfortunatly.

11. Yes, we call it pant and have been able to do it with aluminium cans since 1984 and PET bottles since 1994. There is a law that every PET bottle with soda, water, cider or other similar drinks must be able to pant. Many juice bottles are available to pant as well, although they don’t have to by law. Glass bottles on the other hand is usually recycled with other glass products without getting any refund. There used to be a refund system untill 2013 but since the raise of PET bottles among other reasons, it was changed out.

    For one aluminium can and for a PET bottle under one litre you will get 1 krona back each, about 0,092 euro. For a PET bottle over one litre you’ll get 2 kronor, about 0,18 euro

12. In Finland we do have that, I think it is 10 cents for a glass bottle, 15 cents for a can and 20 cents for a plastic bottle.
