I am not surprised, but there were some strong contenders such as Kpop, chess, and… House plants? What’s about the house plant drama? Are people stealing cuttings from one another? Is there gatekeeping about how much water to give your spider plant? u/SerChonk, if you know about anything here on Reddit please enlighten me, I am dying to know.
Hi how everyone is doing?
Today, for the first time, I’m making _Irish Stew_ – with lamb shoulder, celery, onions, carrots, potatoes and a Guinness reduction. Oh, and soda bread.
It’s a simple dish fitting the autumn but I’m quite excited nonetheless. I like to cook things _for hours_ 🙂
Yesterday I was at the dentist and when i looked at the computer i noticed that their system is called “Al Dente” and I think that’s cool.
I don’t consider myself bad at English, but there is one term I have wondered about for ages. At least in American sports media the term “father time” is used often. “Father time is undefeated”, they’ll say. I understand what it means, age catches up to every athlete at some point. But I’ve always been confused wether it means it’s “time to be a father”, or wether it’s Father Time, like a priest who is called Time. Must be an amazing baller, that priest. Looks like he is starting to get the better of LeBron James.
Anyway, continuing with sports, the final round of WRC is on in Japan. Emil Lindholm is looking quite likely to snatch the WRC2 world title. Since Kalle Rovanperä already won the WRC title, and Lauri Joona won WRC3 earlier, it is very possible that all three world titles will be collected by Finns at the prize giving gala. I can subscribe to that, Finland back on top of the rally world. France can suck a dick.
I saw that Gal Costa passed, she was a Brazilian musician usually linked with the tropicália scene, sort of Brazilian psychedelic rock or pop. Also did a lot of bossa nova and MPB. Her version of AntĂ´nio Carlos Jobim’s [Desifinado](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKTzNlorocI) is my favourite recording of that tune, so I just wanted to share that.
I’m still resisting putting the heating on and am instead going to bed each night with a hot drink. Sadly though, my Cola Cao supplies from my last trip to Granada have finally run out and my local supermarket doesn’t seem to stock Ovaltine anymore (yes, I live life on the edge), so I’ve instead had to make do with Super Poulain which, as far as I can make out, is just some really crappy Nesquick knock-off and tastes like slightly sweet dishwater.
What are some nice caffeine-free hot drinks to drink on cold evenings? Doesn’t have to be sugary.
