You can’t but you can take steps to be safer, like asking for socials to check their name. Search this name and see if they have DV charges (if you can do that where you live). Any meet uod always inform people where you are going and with who. Only ever met someone in a busy public place, in full day light.
I met my current SO online 6 years ago and we are now living together. Even with him I went on a first date with my two friends as a secret chaperone. They sat on the others side of the bar to give me privacy, but ready to intervene if the person I am meeting is not the same as on profile or tries to force himself on me when we saying goodbye.
