I do have a sense of humor. I’m not the funniest guy ever, but I can make jokes and have my friends laugh. Sometimes I can make jokes and have people I don’t know as well laugh.

The thing is my sense of humor is super dry and ironic. I find that it doesn’t really appeal to a huge crowd in real life. It also sucks when everyone is having a good time and i’m not because I don’t like their style of humor. It just gets in the way of forming friendships.

I don’t like to admit it, but I’m super envious of people who can walk into a room and make everyone laugh. The things I personally find funny just don’t get those reactions

Should I try and change my sense of humor? How would i even do that?

  1. It’s important to be authentic / true to who you really are in order to attract real friendships. It may take longer, but the relationships will be more meaningful.

  2. I don’t think you should worry about changing yourself, but maybe just adding to your tool kit of jokes! Continue your dry ironic jokes but add a few more types if you want to be funnier. I love dry ironic jokes.

This can be done by watching stand up comedy and stand up comedy break downs. A format I like a lot is the bait and switch. Say something then go the complete unexpected direction, it catches people off guard and makes them laugh.

Very Basic Ex: man my budget has been getting hit with how much money I spend on beer sooooo I decided Ima just rob a liquor store.

If you do if well (better than my example) and with the right timing it always gets a laugh

  3. Humor is an added spice to life, but it isn’t what relationships are all about. Maybe find some different friends if you aren’t appreciating the humor of the ones you’ve currently got. There are plenty of people with a dry sense of humor, so start looking for them.
